Islamophobia in our schools – What does it sound like?

20/11/2020 @ 19:00 - 20:30

Often hidden in corridors and classrooms, many are not aware of what Islamophobia sounds like in school. Let’s hear it now.

November is the month of raising awareness of Islamophobia. Recently, we have seen an increase in the reporting of this crime, but the issue is still at large. Islamophobia affects our communities in which we live, direct, and indirectly. One of the aims of Al Masaar is to empower marginalised communities, and through our online event, we wish to openly talk to the wider communities in the Forth Valley about this subject and the effect it has.

On the 22nd of October, Al Masaar and MEND (Muslim Engagement & Development) hosted a webinar with key people in the Forth Valley area and beyond, discussing racist bullying and anti-racist education in the Forth Valley area. There is still an appetite for this topic and a lot of unanswered questions which shows that further conversation is in demand.

Below are links to the last Zoom meeting we hosted with MEND, so give you some background information on what type of discussions we have had.
