Muslim Poetry

19/12/2020 @ 18:00 - 19:30

Poetry from an international accolade of Muslim Poets sharing aspects of their belief through inspiring Poetry

Using the spoken word, to convey a message has for some time allowed many feelings, experiences and views to be expressed. Poetry is mentioned in the Holy Quran, which states that some people can use their God given poetic gifts to further the cause of truth and lead righteous lives. And, if we look back through history, we can see much evidence of this taking place through the inspiring poetry of many Poets.

‘Poets for Peace’ is a poetical group which was setup in 2014 with exactly this in mind. It has been collaborating with community groups, schools, poetry clubs as well as individuals, and holding Poetical events around the UK, presenting a variety of inspiring English Poetry from a variety of inspirational Poets. These poetical words, we hope will have touched people’s hearts and helped us to realise the true beautiful peaceful teachings contained within all of our faiths.

Poets for Peace also hosts its own radio show on the Voice of Islam digital radio where it shares and airs beautiful poetry that has been sent in by its listeners. The Voice of Islam digital radio station is quite special, as it is broadcasted from within the magnificent Baitul-Fatuh Mosque in London, which is the largest Mosque in western Europe.

On the 19th December 2020 at 6pm, we proudly invite you to join us to experience and immerse yourself with some of the beautiful and peaceful teachings of Islam through the words of 12 Muslim poets who share their poetical thoughts and feelings through their poetry. Acclaimed Poets in their own right, these poets originate from different parts of the world and diverse backgrounds, being influenced by differing surroundings, cultures and bringing their own style to suit our global audience.
